The Foil Method

This has been blogged about a lot I'm sure, but I still want to write about it.

I love glitter polishes.  They're sparkly, gorgeous and entrancing.  However, have you tried to take them off with a cotton swab and some polish? A-N-N-O-Y-I-N-G.  I would generally wait until I could peel it off to avoid the frustration of the removal process.  Thanks to the blogging world and my wonderful friend, Jenny, I was able to enjoy glitter polish without dreading removing it when time came.




The foil method is as easy as its name.

What you'll need:

Foil, cotton balls or rounds, and 100% acetone polish remover.

I have my remove+ from Zoya, which works just as well without drying out my skin and it doesn't smell like gasoline.  I've also used just regular polish remover.

Directions:

• Soak the cotton in the remover of your choice.  
• Place over your finger and then take a strip of foil and wrap around the finger tightly.  
• Mold cotton to fit on your finger.  
• Repeat these steps for all the remaining fingers on your hand.
• Wait at least 5 minutes before removing the foils.

I do one hand at a time mainly because it's easier.  I cut my foil into strips rather than just tearing them.  It makes it easier for me.

And after five minutes, you have a clean nail with no vigorous rubbing necessary.

If the polish doesn't come off easily after five minutes, then just rewrap it and wait a couple of minutes longer.

*I've used normal polish remover for this and just had to keep the foil wrap on for a few minutes longer.  I personally don't like using pure acetone on my entire finger because my skin is dry enough as it is.  It's really just up to you and what you have on hand :)
